The McKinley Middle Art Club participated in the annual MLK Walls project. The event was organized for the beautification of Scotlandville. Every year the Walls Project accepts mural designs from local artists and volunteers show up to help execute the murals.
Club members were initially assigned a space with over 25 Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Members. When it was discovered that the Mckinley Middle Art Club was there, we were given our own space to create from scratch! Our students came up with the designs, decided on colors and got to work.
They completed the mural with some help from other Walls project volunteers in about 4 hours. It was laborious but very rewarding and we look forward to participating again next year!
Attending students and teachers: Erick Huber, Ayxa Roberts, Cierra Wilson, Victoria Williams, Paola Miranda, Sarah Bishop, Ms. Colwell & Mrs. Bell
Mural Location: 7200 Scenic Highway (US-61)
